This gorgeous Plate has a
diameter of 8 1/4"
The Plate is embossed with a
Shoemaker working at a cobbler's bench.
The Plate Back is embossed with the Fenton Logo
and the following:
With this handmade plate,
Fenton commemorates one
of the earliest shoemakers of
Colonial America. Thomas Beard, a
skilled cordwainer, came to Salem,
Mass. in 1629. The community
gave him 50 acres of land and
paid him 10 English pounds a
year for his work.
No. 4 in the annual series
of Collector's Plates by
Fenton.
